Delivery charge position endorsed by Exhibit Industry Congress

Seven of the industry's leading organizations recently endorsed the Exhibit Industry Congress (EIC) "Statement on Show Delivery Charges," according to Peter J. Mangelli, president, International Exhibitors Association (IEA), sponsors of the congress.

"What we now have is an official EIC document which clearly calls for an end to the use of van line surcharges that are indiscriminately placed on some freight shipments," Mangelli said. "Show managers, exhibitors, designers and producers, and facility managers have all said this is a good idea through the endorsements of their respective associations. Now, it is up to individual companies to take the lead and make the EIC recommended process of freight classification an industry standard."

The classifications, as published by the EIC, are:

EIC participating organizations whose boards of directors endorsed the statement are: Exhibit Designers & Producers Association, Healthcare Convention & Exhibitors Association, International Association for Exposition Management, International Association of Auditorium Managers, International Exhibitors Association, National Association of Consumer Shows and Society of Independent Show Organizers. Additional EIC participants include the Exposition Service Contractors Association.
